Genesis 12: 1
The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.
God did not tell Abraham where he was going God advise him that he would direct him to the new land. Abraham did not question God he had faith and confidence in the Lord to packed up his entire family including his Nephew Lot.
1. Do you remember when your Faith was not strong, and you question what God has assigned to you?
Genesis 15: 5-6
And the LORD took him outside and said, “Now look to the heavens and count the stars, if you are able.” Then He told him, “So shall your offspring be.” 6 Abram believed the LORD, and it was credited to him as righteousness.
In verse 6 Once God revealed Abraham's blessing because of his faith and he believed it would happen God imputed him as righteous.
Let’s examine righteousness as used in this content. Righteousness,
in human standards, is defined as “the quality of being morally true or justifiable.” The justification is made according to the conformity of behavior with the regulation (or constitution, in the context of a nation).
In its deeper spiritual meaning, righteousness is the quality of being right in the eyes of God, including character (nature), conscience (attitude), conduct (action), and command (word). Righteousness is, therefore, based upon God’s standard because let us recognize that no man is considered righteous. However, in this context, it reveals those that have faith and believe God can be considered as righteous in the eyes of God. This coincides with the New Testament in John 20:29 Jesus said unto him, “Thomas because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed. Blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed.
1. Do you remember a time when God revealed, and unbelievable blessing and your faith was strong enough to believe that it was going to happen?
Mark 9:20-25
In these verses, Jesus was brought to a graveyard with a boy running around being tormented by demons. The boy’s father admitted that he believed Jesus Christ to be the savior. But after seeing his son in the state for so long the father asked Christ to help his unbelief.
1. In this instance do you think this man demonstrated the faith of Abraham? Or did he display that he had little or no faith that his son would be delivered from the demons?
James 2:14-26
What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?
Verse 14 goes into detail to define that Faith without works is dead. When we continue to read the scripture, it reveals a lack of works towards your brethren and then demonstrates the works that should be done.
1. Abraham's works coincided with his faith in God. He demonstrated that when began the journey to go to an unknown land. What are some works you can to strengthen to increase your faith walk?
