What are other current or recent events that we have never witnessed before OR are increasing more than ever before?
Scripture Study: Matthew 24:1-14 NKJV
“Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
With all the current events that we are experiencing, like the disciples, it is good to ask Jesus questions about what’s going on.
What have been some questions you asked Jesus about recent events and what was His answer.
And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.
How can disciples of Christ be deceived by someone else claiming to be Christ?
What is an example of rumors of wars?
Jesus said that,”this is the beginning of sorrows”. So, what do you interpret the current times that we are in now?
“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.
We should never forget the Christians worldwide that are being persecuted, tortured, and killed for their faith in Christ. We in the USA have never had to endure the kind of suffering that others have for the faith. However, we must not deceive ourselves into thinking that persecution will never happen to us.
We do not have to look far to see offenses, betrayal, and hatred going on throughout the world. What’s even sadder is that we see these spirits operating in the church.
What scriptures come to your mind that addresses hatred, betrayal, and offenses? How can we apply them in our daily lives?
Why do you think false prophets are easily deceiving people?
Give examples of modern-day lawlessness and the love of many growing cold.
What are some things you do to endure during these times?
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”
Believers should never neglect this scripture concerning the end of the world. It reminds us that we still have work to do before Christ comes back.
How many people have you talked to about Christ this year? How many people gave their lives to Christ because of your testimony?
