Message by Dr. Shana Wise
Mark 5:21-24
Now when Jesus had crossed over again by boat to the other side, a great multitude gathered to Him; and He was by the sea. 22 And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet 23 and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.” 24 So Jesus went with him, and a great multitude followed Him and thronged Him.
This father got the attention of Jesus, because he fell down at his feet and worship him before he made his request.
Many of us have made a request to God, but before we do, so, are we worshiping him? Are we coming to him with all of our pains, and being transparent in his presence?
35 While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”
Have you ever gotten bad news when you were already in a bad place in your life anyway? How did it make you feel? Or have you ever pray to God and it seems like he didn’t hear you and things just got worse?
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.”
Jesus will speak to you in your darkest hour but you need to make sure that you’re able to hear his voice over the negativity and chatter in your life.
When Jesus speaks to you is a specific word for you And your situation. Jesus knows how we feel and what we are going through even when we don’t speak a word.
37 And He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James. 38 Then He came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and saw a tumult and those who wept and wailed loudly. 39 When He came in, He said to them, “Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeping.”
40 And they ridiculed Him. But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying.
There will be times in your life when you need to rise above the negative and naysayers in your life. Especially when you are going through a difficult time or are in need of a specific miracle.
Negative people who don’t believe in Jesus will often ridicule you for believing in him. Especially when you are believing for the impossible.
There will be times like Jesus will we need to “put people out and shut the door”. When God is doing a work in our life, everybody can’t be involved.
We must remember that miracles happen when faith is activated!
Only certain people were allowed in the room when Jesus performed the miracle.
What miracle do you need from God today?
What are some things that are hindering you from arising from the negativity or hindering your faith in God?
41 Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.”42 Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were overcome with great amazement.
What I love about God, is that what he has for you is for you. He is able to take a bad hopeless and seemingly deathly situation and turn it around for his glory! God used a 12-year-old girl’s lifeless body to not only bless her by bringing her back to life but also ignited the faith of so many others that day!
Do you believe that God can use you where you’re at? Do you believe that he can take your situation and use it for a testimony onto him?
Do you believe that you are worthy to be called his daughter?
Do you believe that he loves you unconditionally no matter what you have done?
Have you given your life to Christ yet? It is never too late to surrender and yield to the father.
